Description
A DreamKids® Learning Lab | Special 2- Session Series | Invitation Only | September 17 + 25, 2024 | 1:30PM – 2:30 PM ET (US)
Children growing up today are continuously exposed to a barrage of information, charged emotional content, and “should be/should do” messages, in a time where it seems so much of life is lived online and heavily impacted by social media. To make sense of how to navigate in this world, children need to go within, to learn about – and know – their own minds, personal strengths, and who they are; in other words, to find (through imaginal exercises) their own truths and choices. This playful creative, imaginative, and fun world is what DreamKids want to open up.
DreamKids® aims to bring Saphire® Imagery — short, guided imagery practices that are fun, quick and playful — to children and their parents. It also hopes to train professionals working with children in how to use imagery to support their students.
Children often don’t like to talk about their problems. They might feel ashamed, or like a failure, or they might have limited understanding of why they behave the way they do. However, all kids like games. Because imagery is quick, creative and fun, they can be much more open about what is moving inside of them. After all, using their imagination is a natural state for children; just watch them in the playground. Because in the imagination all things are possible, they can imagine a way to solve their challenges or problems. They can experience success and agency. This allows them to transform and use the solutions in real life.
The DreamKids® Learning Lab Start with You
The School of Images is developing its DreamKids offering and exercises for parents and children, yet SOI’s founder, Catherine Shainberg and Certified Practitioner, Sheona McEwan seek your guidance and experience about the use of imagery in addressing the issues you see children facing as they learn and grow in today’s world.
Please join us for two hours over two weeks to share your expertise and exchange ideas about how to develop creativity, resiliency and confidence in children.
On 17 September 2024, Catherine Shainberg will welcome you with a special presentation and personal introduction to DreamKids aims and its ties to Saphire® Imagery.
For the remainder of the this first session and in a second, hour-long gathering on 25 September, Sheona McEwan will host in the spirit of collaboration and ingenuity, to help the DreamKids program identify key issues and craft imaginative approaches to use of imagery in early child development.
This special laboratory series is by invitation only. A Zoom link will be sent to registrants before the first session.
