Encouraging Creativity and Confidence | A DreamKids® Workshop | 9 August

$85.00

In this groundbreaking two-hour workshop led by Certified Practitioner Sheona McEwan, you will explore Saphire® Imagery exercises and techniques that support children in developing their creativity and self-confidence, especially through the use of Waking Dreaming and Imagination Games.

Children are innately creative, imaginative, and playful. Talking about their problems can be challenging because they find it difficult to articulate what is going on inside of them or because it can be very confronting. Through guided imagery, children can play with what their inner world shows them and find their own resources and solutions to their difficulties. It allows them to practice what they have not yet attempted, and when they experience the feeling of success, translate the solutions into their real life. It can create a toolbox which they can start using independently and evolve over time. This gives them self-confidence that they can deal with any future challenges that may come their way.

We will look at exercises that address strong emotions, grow confidence and find  inner resources.

DreamKids® aims to bring Saphire® Imagery — short, guided imagery practices that are fun, quick and playful — to children and their parents. It also hopes to train professionals working with children in how to use imagery to support their students.

A Zoom link will be sent to registrants.

Through guided imagery, children can play with what their inner world shows them and find their own resources and solutions to their difficulties. It can create a toolbox which they can start using independently and evolve over time. This gives them self-confidence that they can deal with any future challenges that may come their way.

This is an experiential workshop and we will look at exercises that address strong emotions, growing confidence and finding inner resources. We will crawl into the feeling of being a child again and experience these imagery exercises that are designed for children. We will talk about how we experienced them and how they may be used to support the children that are in our care, whether as parents, teachers or other child professionals.

Children growing up today are continuously exposed to a barrage of information, charged emotional content, and “should be/should do”  messages, in a time where it seems so much of life is lived online and heavily impacted by social media. To make sense of how to navigate in this world, children need to go within, to learn about – and know – their own minds, personal strengths, and who they are; in other words, to find (through imaginal exercises) their own truths and choices. This playful creative, imaginative, and fun world is what DreamKids want to open up.

DreamKids® aims to bring Saphire® Imagery — short, guided imagery practices that are fun, quick and playful — to children and their parents. It also hopes to train professionals working with children in how to use imagery to support their students.

Children often don’t like to talk about their problems. They might feel ashamed, or like a failure, or they might have limited understanding of why they behave the way they do. However, all kids like games. Because imagery is quick, creative and fun, they can be much more open about what is moving inside of them. After all, using their imagination is a natural state for children; just watch them in the playground. Because in the imagination all things are possible, they can imagine a way to solve their challenges or problems. They can experience success and agency. This allows them to transform and use the solutions in real life.
