Description
DreamKids® Imagery for Children | with Catherine Shainberg | Wednesdays – October 30, 2024 – May 21, 2025 | 1:00PM – 2:30PM EDT (US)
Unusual times call for us to reach within for guidance, as we have the ability to be our own guiding stars. When children can cultivate this innate ability of creativity to access their inner knowledge, it empowers them to be resilient and confident, two qualities they need in this world of new and special challenges, marked by the social isolation and learning loss born from COVID; overuse of technology and reliance on social media; and/or increased uncertainties about the future voiced by adults at home or in the media.
DreamKids® | Imagery for Children, is being offered in its inaugural year by Dr. Catherine Shainberg, Founder, Director, and Master Practitioner of Saphire Imagery® – the groundbreaking approach to dreams and imagery for transformation and growth. She will be joined by Certified Practitioner, Sheona McEwan. This course aims to engage professionals and practitioners who work with children in a variety of settings to understand and use imagery and dreaming, as advanced by SOI, to help young people cultivate and draw upon their inner guidance to develop emotional, mental, inner and and outer strength, confidence and resilience.
The School of Images, founded by Dr. Catherine Shainberg, explores the ways that imagery, and both night and waking dreams can be used as a path to health and healing. Dr Shainberg has written several books on this topic and teaches her method all over the world. Much of the work involves the use of short, yet powerful exercises that help harness the power of the imagination and the subconscious to create improved social, physical and mental conditions.
Sheona McEwan, SOI Certified Practitioner, is a child psychologist and special needs educator and counselor working in private practice for over 20 years. She regularly uses Dr Shainberg’s methods in counseling and teaching practice with school-aged students and their parents. She has found that the playful, creative exercises designed to engage their developing imagination are powerful tool for growth, adaptation, and transformation. The short, guided exercise help kids to engage their inner knowledge and wisdom and to find ways to deal with difficult feelings or challenges in a new creative way.
Through 21 weekly sessions running from October through May, DreamKids® | Imagery for Children is an invitation-only opportunity that will explore:
- The top issues hampering early child development;
- The skills children need to thrive as they grow;
- The creative exercises that will most effectively engage kids’ imagination to help them deal with difficult feelings or challenges in a way that builds their self-confidence and resilience;
- The creative exercises that can be used to build early life skills for a variety of scenarios, including those requiring resilience, resourcefulness and healthy self-esteem.
Educational and therapeutic professionals working with children are invited to join Dr. Shainberg and Sheona McEwan in the vanguard of this new practice area for the School of Images, intended to positively impact and reinvigorate the conversations around and approaches to childhood development.
